While Panasonic had already previously released the superb 42PZ700 they now give us the 42PZ70 which sets out to provide the same excellent performance at a more affordable price with slight drawbacks to make this possible. In difference to the PZ700 the PZ70 has only two HDMIs instead of three, a less powerful audio system, lacks the SD card slot for direct playback of digital pictures and has a more modest design which doesn't prevent it from still looking great. These are all rather minor drawbacks. The image quality of the PZ70 is really impeccable, second only to Pioneer's expensive High-End KURO models. This is possible thanks to the Viera V-Real Pro image processing sytem, extensive colour management and a digital image optimizer. This Plasma also has excellent contrast thanks to ‘Real Black Drive' and Deep Black Filter technology for boosting black level response. The PZ70 has good connectivity with two HDMIs being joined by component video and D-Sub PC as well as healthy addition of other useful things like a digital tuner jack and TopUp TV card slot. Thanks to the aforementioned features the PZ70 does not disappoint and both True HD content and upscaled content looks superb. As mentioned before the sound system of the PZ70 is inferior to that of the PZ700 but it still provides more than reasonable performance especially when it comes to bass quality but it can't match the performance of more expensive dedicated sound systems. This is definitely a good bargain. Minimize
