The Zen's software will convert the formats for the device automatically. It's just too bad the battery is not user replaceable. Sound quality is terrific, though, which is something Creative has traditionally been good at. And while it is a bit thicker and heavier than the iPod, it does give a feel of durability, and fits well in the hand and the pocket. About the only other thing to knock on the Zen is it requires an external adapter for connection.
